What Harvard Speech and Debate Tournament is

The Harvard National Speech and Debate Tournament is one of the biggest and most competitive invitationals on the American circuit, held each Presidents' Day weekend on Harvard's campus. It runs varsity, junior varsity and novice divisions across a wide event list, which makes it accessible to newer competitors as well as being a major bid tournament for experienced ones.

How the competition works

Divisions across policy, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Congressional Debate and speech events, with JV divisions available. Four round robins are hosted before the tournament, in CX, Congress, PF and LD, entered as waitlisted entries. Recent additions include in-person and online World Schools Debate divisions, Impromptu speaking and JV Congressional Debate. It is a bid tournament toward the Tournament of Champions.
