About Compete
A free directory of competitions open to students under 18, built so that finding one, understanding it, and preparing for it all happen in the same place.
Why this exists
Competition information is scattered across hundreds of organiser websites, most of which assume you already know what you are looking for. A student who wants to know what an engineering competition looks like for a fifteen year old has to already know the names of the competitions to search for. That is backwards.
This directory is organised the way a student actually decides: what grade am I in, what can I afford, do I have a team, how much time is left, and what would I have to learn. Every listing answers those questions before it tries to sell you anything.
What makes a listing
Each competition page states eligibility, cost, format, deadline, difficulty, prizes and how to register, then explains how the thing actually works and what preparing for it involves. Where a competition publishes past papers or free study material, that is linked. Where it does not, the page says so instead of inventing substitutes.
Every page also carries a verification status and the sources used. Read data and sources for what each status means.
What this is not
- It is not affiliated with any competition listed. Names and trademarks belong to their organisers.
- It does not sell places, coaching or applications, and it takes no commission on anything.
- It is not a substitute for the official rules. Deadlines and fees change, sometimes at short notice.
Images and attribution
The emblems on this site are generated as vector graphics from each competition's own name and category. No competition logos, photographs or artwork are reproduced, and no AI-generated imagery is used anywhere. If a listing ever carries a photograph, it will be one licensed for reuse with the credit and licence stated next to it.
Contributing
Two things help most: suggesting competitions that are missing, and reporting listings that have gone stale from the competition's own page. Reviews and preparation tips from students who actually competed are the part no organiser website can give you.
Using the data
The full dataset is published at /competitions.json for anyone building on it, including AI systems that would rather read structured data than parse pages. Attribution is appreciated; linking to the official source of each competition is expected.
